Merry Christmas

Can I just say, I am one lucky girl. Husband spoiled me and let me get my present early! We didn’t really follow tradition this year. He needed a new phone and he found a good deal so we got that early and I’ve really been wanting a nice DLSR camera for our adventures and for future babies. So Husband caved and let me get it early! We went and picked it out together since I knew exactly what I wanted and needed to be sure I checked it out in person before making the purchase because I’m not good at blind purchases... To say I’m in love with it is a bit of an understatement. Every spare moment I have, I’m playing with all the settings and lenses.

I even made Husband pull off to the side of the road to take a picture of the beautiful American flags displayed in front of our apartment complex flying at half mast in honor of those precious lives lost in the Sandy Hook tragedy. Our hearts are heavy for those families and constant prayers are being lifted up for comfort and strength during this time of mourning.

What a Husband I Have

Words cannot describe how much I appreciate my Husband and the small gestures that make me feel like the queen of the world, but I'll try to formulate them because its too special to not brag about.

So I had a bit of a meltdown Wednesday. I've recently received an overwhelmingly amazing promotion at work, which inevitably means more responsibility and a higher demand from my peers. With the culmination of learning the scope of my new position and the unfavorable (to me) outcome of the recent election, my mind couldn't take it anymore. It only took one thing to send me into a fit of emotional rage. My amazing Husband took it upon himself to put my worries at ease. Wednesday night after we had (an amazing) dinner (cooked my yours truly), Husband says, "Lets go!". He is dragging me out the door before I could even put my shoes on. Side note: at that point I wined "can I at least have shoes" which ultimately sent Husband into an outrageous fit of laughter (for what reason I really don't know, but it entertained me).

So we get in the car and he hands me a blind fold. At this point, I was completely thrown for a loop! I was in my jammies and looking a hot mess so we couldn't be going anywhere legit. We drive for what seems like an hour even though it was only 15 minutes and when were reaching our destination, I finally figure out where we are. He gives me the ok to take off the blind fold and I see my handsome and caring husband sitting there, parked in front of the most magical place on earth, Target, holding a Starbucks card (which is inside the Target we were at) and a Target card. My immediate reaction was tears. Why did I deserve this? Such an unexpected act of kindness from a man who already does so much for me.

Needless to say, I was pampered. We got two chai lattes and leisurely strolled through my favorite place. I got two sweater dresses, some tights, and some killer stiletto bootie heels, chosen by rugged Husband who just so happens to have fantastic taste in shoes (except he hates leopard print, unexceptable!).

All this to say, Husband deserves a man of the year award. I am so thankful to have him in my life and to know he cares that much about me. I love him more than I can say and I will never let him forget it :)

That's What They Do

It's Saturday night and what are we doing? No, not going to Halloween parties, not going on a date, not hanging out with friends.

We are laying in bed at 10:44, I'm Pinning and flipping between House Hunters and Iron Chef America while husband is perfecting his fantasy football team before tomorrow while singing Bohemian Rhapsody at the top of his lungs.

We're some crazy cats y'all. Oh and hubs just farted. I'm now in the living room.

Bye.

Time to Juice!

I’ve officially begun my juicing quest! I’m the proud new owner of a Big Boss Juicer and after two juices, I’m in love.

My juicing supplies for the week.

I'm so excited to start juicing on a regular basis. My mom is the one who got started on it and has been juicing almost everyday since. She says she can tell a difference in the way she feels overall and can tell a difference on the days she doesn’t juice.

Husband is a meat and potatoes kind of guy so getting him to eat veggies is impossible. IMPOSSIBLE. I'm pretty sure the man has tasted a carrot or any type of spinach one time in his life and kale has never come within a foot of his face. Needless to say, the man needs some vegetable nutrients in his diet and juicing is probably the only way it's going to happen.

Here’s what I used:

2 cups of baby spinach
1 cup of whole leaf kale
3 carrots, chopped into thirds
2 apples chopped into about 1 inch pieces
1 lemon cut into 8th’s (with the peel on)

It yielded about 16 oz of juice, give or take a few. I had read several different takes on leaving the peel on the lemon and decided to try leaving it on for this first one. I have to agree with what I had read, it made it VERY lemon-ey and it had a hint of a bitter aftertaste. Supposedly the rind has a lot of oils in it and leaves a coating in your mouth that contributes to that aftertaste. We had the juice about an hour and a half ago and I’m still tasting lemon! Husband said it tasted like thick lemonade, which I consider a success considering the fact that there were carrots, kale and spinach in it. I also fed the leafy things in the juicer first and added the more solid stuff after because the leafy stuff tend to get stuck and you won’t get as much juice from it.

I’m also trying to keep track of how much I’m spending on fresh produce and how much juice I’m yielding from it. The most common response I hear when I say I want to juice is “Oh, but it’s so expensiveeee..” Well this thrifty girl is going to try and make it as inexpensive as possible! Today’s haul cost roughly $15.00. It bought me 2 bags of spinach, 1 bunch (or whatever they call it) of whole leaf kale, a 3 pound bag of carrots, 3 pounds of lemons, and about 8 small granny smith apples. I’m keeping track of how many juices I get out of it all so that I can report on how much each juice ends up costing!

Please share any tips you have on your juicing adventures! I’d love any advice I can get!

What I’m Loving Wednesday

Is it already Wednesday again?! This past week has flown by!

I'm LOVING talk radio. I usually always love it, but this stuff is really getting good! My typical day of talk radio included three hours of Glenn Beck in the morning (unless I have meetings that get in the way) and an afternoon of Sean Hannity. Both are very VERY opinionated and have some pretty lofty ideas but I love 'em! Such a daddy's girl!

Sweet potato chips. Be still my beating heart.

Pinheads and Patriots by Bill O'Reilly. Entertaining and surprisingly balanced so far (well to me anyways)!

Spending last weekend with my momma and I get to spend this coming up weekend with her too! Bring on the coffee! Pretty sure my abs are still sore from all the laughing we did Saturday.

Later gators!

Decision 2012

Y'all, I love my politics. Husband makes fun of me because I get so excited to tell him stuff I hear on the radio or see on the news. I also voluntarily and excitedly read political and historical books, which seems to entertain my mom to no end. I will refrain from blabbing my specific views on here because frankly, they're my own personal opinions and the only people I feel comfortable sharing them with are my parents, Husband, and maybe a few friends (I'm secretly really afraid of offending people). I tend to get passionate, and then I can't hold my tongue (or fingers). I have been known to comment on Facebook posts and later regret doing so because it sparks an unnecessary and pointless debate.

I will say though, I’m southern, conservative, and a fan of Fox News. You can probably guess my political affiliation.

Now that the cat’s out of the bag...

My one and only request is that you please, PLEASE watch these debates. DISCLAIMER: I’m not trying to sway anyone to believe what I believe by any means. The future of our country is in our hands. There's no better time than now to know what the candidates stand for and what the real facts are. Of course, the parties will say what they can to make the opposing candidate look bad, but I challenge everyone to go to the polls knowing with full confidence that the person they plan on voting for is who they feel would best lead this county. It's hard to know who's telling the truth, especially with every news station having their own biased opinions and the the polls allegedly being forged to favor any given candidate, but there are honest sources out there. Why not get to know the candidate for yourself by watching the debates and listening to them speak at their respective rallies. You can learn a lot about a person by what they're saying and how they're saying it.

We have 31 days left!
VOTE!!!
K, Thanks.

What I'm Loving Wednesday

Husband- but that’s all day, everyday!

This stuff- my pre workout juice! It's uh-may-zing. Makes me run like a gazelle.

Life’s Little Letters- something I’ve decided to do recently, more on this to come.

Preggo Blogs- because I still have a cagillion, trillion years before it’s baby time and I feel the need to live vicariously through other people. Pardon me for exaggerating. Don’t get me wrong, I want more me and hubby time before it turns into poopey diapers, designer bags under my eyes, no sleep time, but maternal instincts are at an all time high. And the fact that every time I talk to my mom and I say the words “Guess what!” she responds with “You’re pregnant?!?!?” doesn’t help my desire to be a mommy. In due time, pun intended.

Borderlands 2- because it gives me time to read while Husband plays.

It’s debate time y’all, until next time!
